OVERVIEW
EXPERIENCE DETAILS

Art isn’t just something we create. It can also change how we feel.

Research in neuroaesthetics, shows that engaging with the arts can activate our senses, support the brain and body’s natural stress response, and create pathways connected to wellbeing and connection.

Create • Breathe • Connect is an invitation to slow down, engage your senses, make something with your hands, and experience some of the calming and connecting possibilities of art.

You don’t have to be an artist. You just have to make a little space to create.

Meet the Facilitator

My name is Ale (short for Alejandra), and I'm a mixed media artist and photographer, and a Certified Therapeutic Arts Practitioner through the Canadian International Institute of Art Therapy (CiiAT).

My work explores creativity as a way to connect more deeply with ourselves, with others, and with the natural world.

I’ve struggled with anxiety my whole life. Over time, I realized that art had always been therapeutic for me. Creating gave me a way to process things, connect with myself, and express what I couldn’t always put into words. But being an artist could also feel lonely. I started wanting to do something with my life that went beyond creating for myself—something that felt meaningful and allowed me to help others experience some of the healing and connection I had found through art. That led me to study Therapeutic Arts, so I could learn how to share the power of creative expression with others.

While this event is not art therapy, it is thoughtfully inspired by therapeutic arts principles that encourage self-expression, mindfulness, curiosity, and community in a safe and welcoming environment.

Thank you

I can’t wait to connect with you.
