OVERVIEWEXPERIENCE DETAILSRooted Together comes from something very personal. As a mixed media artist, I’ve found that being in the forest helps me quiet my mind, ease anxiety, and actually listen to myself. In that calm space, I feel more grounded, and creativity flows more naturally.
I want to share that feeling with others, and also turn it into a way for all of us to connect, including myself.
The idea is to gather in the forest and create together (drawing, painting, and/or writing). It’s not about being “good” at art, but about being present, expressing yourself, and sharing that space with others.
I’ve noticed that when people are in the forest, something shifts. There’s a sense of calm and openness that can make it easier to create and to connect with others in a more real, honest way. There’s less pressure, and people can just be themselves. It can create a sense of belonging and open the door to meaningful connections between neighbours who might not otherwise meet. At the same time, spending this kind of time in the forest naturally builds a deeper relationship with it. When you create in a place, you begin to care about it more, and that can lead to more awareness and respect for the environment in simple, everyday ways.
At its core, Rooted Together is about connection: with ourselves, with each other, and with the forest. And how those small moments of connection can slowly grow into a more caring and supportive community.

My name is Ale (short for Alejandra), and I'm a mixed media artist and photographer, and a Certified Therapeutic Arts Practitioner through the Canadian International Institute of Art Therapy (CiiAT).
My work explores creativity as a way to connect more deeply with ourselves, with others, and with the natural world. While Rooted Together is not art therapy, it is thoughtfully inspired by therapeutic arts principles that encourage self-expression, mindfulness, curiosity, and community in a safe and welcoming environment.
Thank you
I can’t wait to connect with you.
